SmarterTools Releases New SmarterMail Mail Server, Provides Cost-Effective Alternative to Microsoft Exchange

SmarterTools Inc. is proud to announce the release of SmarterMail 6.x. The latest version of this highly acclaimed mail server software builds upon previous releases to simplify mailbox migration, enhance Microsoft Outlook and mobile synchronization, improve message archiving, and increase the efficiency of the software’s out-of-the-box spam protection.

A major component of SmarterMail 6.x is the ability to sync email, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes between mobile devices in real time using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. SmarterTools allows customers to add Exchange ActiveSync to only the mailboxes that need the technology, making adoption of the add-on easy and affordable for hosting/service providers, enterprises, and small to medium sized businesses (SMBs).

SmarterMail 6.x also introduces the Commtouch Premium Antispam add-on for users that want to boost SmarterMail’s out-of-the-box antispam. With the add-on, SmarterMail will block 99.5% of spam from users’ inboxes.

The new mailbox migration tool gives companies the competitive advantage by simplifying the process of migrating mail servers or service providers. Individual users are ensured a hassle-free transition from products and services like Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo! and more, with just a few clicks of the mouse. Depending on the service the user is migrating from, existing email, calendars, tasks and notes can be easily transferred to SmarterMail.

“SmarterMail delivers 90% of the features of Microsoft Exchange for 10% of the cost,” said Tim Uzzanti, CEO of SmarterTools. “The ability to sync mobile devices using Exchange ActiveSync’s direct push technology, plus dozens of new enhancements and features, has helped SmarterMail evolve into a true Microsoft Exchange Alternative that will help hosting/service providers win business, while providing the tools small businesses and organizations need to communicate more efficiently.”

SmarterMail brings enterprise-level functionality to businesses, ISPs and Web hosting environments. With antispam/antivirus out-of-the-box; reporting; events/notifications; throttling; message archiving; intrusion detection/prevention; advanced synchronization with Microsoft Outlook; over-the-air support for BlackBerry, iPhone, and Windows Mobile devices; and optional Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, SmarterMail 6.x provides Exchange-level features at a fraction of the cost.

SmarterMail is available at the SmarterTools Web site and through authorized resellers. A complete list of new features and improvements is available by viewing the SmarterMail 6.x release notes.
